Summary
This article gives a brief overview of the possibilities for recording conversations. The different option packs SwyxRecord and SwyxMonitor are discussed. Afterwards you will find the answers to the most frequently asked questions.
The Basic Types of Recordings
1. Recording at SwyxIt!
For the recording at SwyxIt! the call must also be conducted via the client. It must not be coupled with a telephone in CTI or CTI+ mode.
2. Recording the trunk
With a trunk recording, the media stream of the call is tapped directly in the SwyxWare. The SIP trunk must be terminated directly in the SwyxWare and may not be terminated in a media gateway (e.g. an VOIP router or mediant). The recording is started manually by entering a DTMF string.
For the automatic recording of certain extensions or all calls the Monitor-Option Pack is required in addition to the Record-Option Pack.
The Options in Detail
SwyxRecord Option Pack
- Manual recording of calls made via the SwyxIt! client in softphone mode via a button in the client
- Creation of trunk recordings from any end device (telephones, mobile client, SIP devices, etc.) by entering a DTMF character string. This function is not possible for gateway trunks, but only for trunks registered directly in SwyxWare.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do I start a recording in SwyxIt!?
A recording can be started in SwyxIt! via the "Record" button. The resulting file is stored locally on the user's PC in the directory specified in the options.
2. How do I start a recording on a SwyxPhone?
Trunk recordings can be started and stopped from a SwyxPhone by entering the DTMF key sequence defined in the administration. This DTMF key sequence can also be configured on one of the function keys of the phone.
3. Is a mixed operation of optional recording and permanent recording of the calls possible?
Yes, it is possible to use the permanent recording and the optional recording in parallel.
4. is it possible to switch off the recording manually for a standard recording of all calls? And if so, can this also be done during the call?
Permanent in this case really means permanent. It is not possible to switch off during a telephone call. In practice, this requirement is solved by manual post-processing or call routing:
- The employees who are to use this function receive two internal call numbers: one with and one without permanent recording.
- The caller is notified of a recording by an announcement.
- If he doesn't want to, he has to press a key.
- Depending on the selection, the caller is then put through to the respective internal extension of the user.
5. What about the recording of calls when the user concerned uses CTI+?
When using CTI+, the same applies as when using CTI: the media stream of the call is not routed directly via SwyxIt! The only option is to record the call on the server (trunk recording).
6. Is there information about the file size / minute for the recordings?
One minute recording occupies approx. 780 kBit hard disk space (codec Microsoft Wave Audio GSM, mono compressed, 13 kBit/s).
