SUMMARY
With Swyx News, Enreach is releasing its first in-house Web Extension for SwyxIt! 15, built on the new Web SDK.
Swyx News displays current articles from the Enreach Help Center directly in SwyxIt!, giving Swyx administrators in particular an overview of current software releases, firmware updates for hardware and maintenance windows for SwyxON.
Swyx News will be available from early October 2026.
INFORMATION
Swyx News is Enreach's new service that uses the new Web Extensions to display the latest news from the Enreach Help Center directly in SwyxIt!. This keeps you informed early about news, changes and incidents relating to the Swyx product you use, without having to check the Help Center yourself on a regular basis.
This service is primarily intended for administrators. However, as it uses neither login credentials nor Swyx user data, other SwyxIt! users can also use Swyx News.
Swyx News does not display advertising. It shows only technical information such as release notes, updates, security advisories and incident reports.
The associated web service is operated and hosted by Enreach. Swyx News is updated once a day.
Features
- News directly in SwyxIt!: Current articles from the public area of the Enreach Help Center are displayed in a Web Extension widget directly on the Home Screen.
- Displays the title and the first lines of the summary. Articles can be opened directly in the browser.
- Filter by Help Center category, highlighting of new articles, read/unread status
- Configurable and distributable by the Swyx administrator
DATA PROTECTION AND SECURITY
Swyx News acts purely as an aggregator of public content:
- Public articles only: Swyx News displays only publicly accessible articles from the Enreach Help Center. Logging in to the Help Center is neither required nor possible.
- No login credentials: Swyx News does not require any passwords or other credentials and does not transmit any.
- No personal data: The Web Extension does not store any personal data. The user is not known to the service.
- Stored information: Personal settings (filters, read status) are stored locally on the PC in the browser's local storage.
- Activation by the administrator only: Swyx News is not active by default. The Web Extension only appears once an administrator has set it up in the Swyx Control Center and assigned it to users, and the administrator can remove it again at any time.
SET-UP
Setup takes place in two steps.
Step 1: Set up the Web Extension in the Swyx Control Center (administrator)
- In the Swyx Control Center, open General Settings | Client Settings.
- Click Web Extensions and then Create.

}- Select the user groups and/or individual users who are to receive Swyx News.
- Click Create.
Note: Changes to the configuration of a Web Extension only take effect after SwyxIt! has been restarted.
For further information, see Configuring Web Extensions in the Enreach help.
Step 2: Display Swyx News in SwyxIt! (user)
How Swyx News appears in SwyxIt! 15 depends on the display type defined under displayTypes in the JSON configuration:
-
static: Swyx News is automatically displayed on the right in a static window area. -
navigation: An icon automatically appears in the menu bar, allowing the user to show and hide Swyx News. -
widget: The user adds Swyx News to their Home Screen as a widget. You can define the default height usingwidgetHeight.widgetis the default configuration.
If you want to allow other display modes for Swyx News, you must declare them in the JSON configuration.
